⟴ANTLER
Antlers are found on all members of the deer family, mostly on males. They are true bone and are composed primarily of calcium and phosphorus. Horns are found on sheep, goats, and cows. They are formed from hair-like tissue that grows over a bony core. Antlers are shed and re-grown every year. Horns are typically not shed.
Growth of antlers typically begins in springtime. They are fully developed in just 4 months. Antler growth is one of the fastest known types of tissue growth in mammals. They can grow at rate of 1/4″ per day!

The way they are collected
I only use naturally shed antlers …so what does “Naturally Shed” mean?
It means that the antlers fall off by themselves without any involvement of humans. This is a normal and natural cycle of antlers so that the new antlers can re-grow. These antlers are collected by ‘Shed Hunters’ after walking for hours and hours.
On the other hand, there are antlers people collect from hunting. I don’t have anything against it, it is one way the balance of nature is maintained and I respect the way other people live as long as they respect and appreciate the animals.
Why it matters
No matter how antlers are collected, they look same once the burrs (where the antler attached to the skull) are removed. However I believe most of my customers especially those that buy the personalized items are seeking more meaningful and more heartfelt items for themselves or their loved ones. This is why I use naturally shed antlers, I respect and value my customers special moments as much as my own. Without knowing exactly who, how, and what for the animals were killed, I do not want to use those antlers.
⟴RESIN
Sealing Personalized Antlers
After your personalization is added on the antlers, I apply resin for sealing.
The resin I use is a high quality jewelry grade. It is extremely transparent and non-yellowing for the long term. I am currently using one from Japan after testing and experimenting with many different brands. It has a smooth and glossy look.

Proper Care for Long Lasting
Resin jewelries can last long time with proper care. So… what is the proper care?
Resin is water resistant, NOT waterproof. It wouldn’t be a problem if it gets a little wet, but if it was brought into the shower or submerged, water can seep in between the resin and antler and may cause some damage. It’s always best for any resin jewelry items if you can avoid any water contacts.
As I stated earlier, I have tried many different resins. And all the resins seem to become slightly yellowish eventually. It might be a disappointing fact, but nothing lasts forever and maybe that’s why things are so precious and beautiful. The speed of discoloration is dependent on the resin. For some resins, it happens within a few months, for others there are no changes for years.
I make sure all the materials I use including the resin are non-yellowing and UV-resistant, but direct sunlight can increase the speed at which the resin yellows. When you are not wearing it If it is left in the car or next to the windows for a long time the extreme heat, moisture, and UV rays can affect the resin.
⟴LEATHER

Different Look and Feel
Leather can add a unique and fun touch to any jewelries.
I use a few different types of leather cords for different purposes; more flexible ones for the fringe movements, a little stiffer ones for braiding, etc. After testing many different types and brands, I chose the ones that feel softer and durable.
Recommended Care
Leather is a natural, porous material. The excess moisture and heat can affect or damage the leather.
It is important to remove leather jewelry before showering, swimming, bathing, etc.; avoid any water contact. Water can make the leather swollen and distort the shape of the jewelry. It may also become stiff and brittle once it dries. If it does get wet, please dry it gently as soon as possible and lay out to dry. Perfume or hairspray shouldn’t be sprayed on them either.
You also want to avoid the leather being too dry. When you don’t wear, it is best to store in a cool, dry place; not leaving in a hot car or next to windows where where direct sunlight may hit it.
Lastly if you have a piece that you like to keep the shape a certain way, like a fringe or a tassel to be straighter, laying the jewelry flat in the desired shape will help.
